Early Development

JUMP! strives to provide child care centers with resources to ensure that our children have access to the care they deserve. Support for our community’s educators is a direct investment in the future of Pointe Coupée Parish. We are able to promote early childhood development across the parish by supporting early education facilities and teachers through the following resources.

Training

We provide—at no cost to participants—regular monthly training workshops focused on birth to four-year-olds for all early childhood educators, directors, owners and family care providers.  Trainings are all provided by state approved certified Pathways instructors. Participants receive Pathways credit certificates upon completion. Materials, refreshments and take-a-ways to use in the classrooms and to share with children’s families are included.

Contact us to be included on our training schedule outreach list.

Stay tuned for events! Whenever something is scheduled, it will appear here.

EARLY CHILDHOOD ANCILLARY CERTIFICATION

The Louisiana Department of Education requires that all lead teachers and directors of a Type III licensed child care center have an Early Childhood Ancillary Certification.  To assist with this requirement, we partner with Baton Rouge Community College—New Roads for the course.

The Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate program commenced February 2018 at BRCC—New Roads, having graduated two cohorts.  The third cohort began January 30th 2020.  To learn more about the courses and future enrollment contact Amanda Stanley, BRCC New Roads Site Administrator at stanleya@mybrcc.edu.
